If the sob wants to do flips let him become a gymnast. I'm not against celebrating and showing emotion. But some of the crap that they do is uncalled for and the refs are following the rules by penalizing the team for their behavior.
The rule specifically calls for a penalty when a player scoring a td leaps/dives into the endzone while unimpeded. The highstepping was a stretch for being taunting though. |

i have kind of mixed emotions on the matter...
i think celebration gets the fans/viewers and teammates really into the game and can be entertaining and motivating not to mention it is contagious
however some of the celebrating goes too far...like jumping up into the stands or holding up gameplay to do a team celebration, and it then leads to personal fouls and unsportsmanlike conduct.
so celebrating in my opinion is ok but what ever happened to just a high five or a fist pound? |

| I personally can't stand all the hotdogging it drives me crazy!! I mean come on you just did what they paid you for!!! The one sport you see very little of that is hockey, because if you act like an ass and taunt the other team you will pay the price next time on the ice!! |

I think one of the reasons for the rule is the risk of an injury. Picture it- your high profile RB is running for a long TD, gets to the 2 and does an unneccessary flip into the endzone. And in the process, breaks his ankle, and is lost for the rest of the season. That could actually cost the team some games, a bowl bid, and a lot of money.
Now don't get me wrong,I love to celebrate! But I also hate to see someone get hurt. |
