Ever since Savvy announced their Savvy Editors’ Choice Awards (SECA), the compeition amongst shutterbugs for the monthly title has been fierce.

At stake for photographers is an interview with Savvy and a feature displaying their photos to our 10 million monthly readers. That’s the kind of publicity you can’t buy! Contenders can use the article off-site to promote their services and, win or not, everyone can use their Savvy Profile as a free web gallery to showcase their work.

Early next year, one of the twelve monthly winning photographers will be evaluated by our editors as the best and win a trip to Sydney, Australia to help shoot those ladies vying for the title of Savvy’s Million Dollar Woman.

Here’s how it works:

1. Go to http://savvy.com/accounts/signup and create a Savvy profile if you do not have one already.
2. Be sure to register as a photographer when asked for your “occupation” and answer the followup questions. Please note that it’s not necessary to own a photo studio or make one’s living at photography to participate, but you will be grouped as a photographer on the basis of this designation, making it easier for us to find your competitive images.
3. Once you are a Savvy member (after replying to the confirmation email), be sure to upload some photos. Under “My Pics” you should create a LABEL called “SECA” (without the quotation marks). When you add photos by browsing your computer, you have the option to edit the photos and label them for this or that gallery. Be sure you label your best photos as SECA if you want to participate in this competition.
4. Send an e-mail to savvyeditorschoice@savvydigitallimited.com so we know to bookmark your SECA gallery and keep an eye on your photos.
5. Once a month, we will review the SECA galleries looking for new additions. Add as many new photos as you like throughout the year – the more, the merrier!
6. Watch for an e-mail from us if your photographs have been shortlisted. We will confirm your participation in the contest and verify that you are the real deal. Once that is done, we will make arrangements for the interview and feature article.
7. In early 2009, Savvy will notify one of the 12 monthly winners that he or she needs to pack the bags for a February trip to Sydney, Australia! (Unless, of course, you’re already there. If this is the case, you’re more than welcome to come and booze it up with Savvy HQ).

Here are some things to Remember:
- We want to see creative, unique images of beautiful women that show off your originality, composition, direction, and lighting.
- Nudity is not allowed on Savvy. Nudity may be implied, however. If nipples are visible through sheer material, the photo is still prohibited. (If you’re unsure of how much is not enough, read up on Savvy’s policy here: http://savvy.com/savvy_says/no_more_nudes_says_savvy )
- Stay far, far away from clichés. If you are serious about this competition, don’t just pose a hot girl in as few clothes as possible sitting on a motorcycle. Again, we aren’t looking for visual clichés or how much skin a model shows. Show us there’s some thought behind your photos.
- We are looking for talented photographers who use their cameras to make the women posing for them look their best.
- If you do not yet have images like that, by all means find the best models you can and get busy shooting! You’ve got time and you’ll become a better photographer in the process!
- We’re using your photos to scout models who might fit well with Savvy. Ideally, you’ll help us recruit women to enter our Is She Hot? Contest and the Search for the Million Dollar Woman. You can refer them to http://www.isshehot.com for more details. C’mon – who doesn’t want to win a million dollars?
- You’ll need to have a valid passport as well any other documentation required in your home country to travel abroad in order to qualify for the Sydney, Australia journey.

There you go. Now get out those cameras and start shooting!

Don’t forget to send us an email so we know you’re keen to have your SECA gallery judged by our editors at savvyeditorschoice@savvydigitallimited.com.
