Tali Jatali doesn’t play by the rules.

When block colours are in, Jatali’s line features geometric prints.

When it’s the season of more is more, and there are maxi dresses a plenty, Jatali shortens her already short hemlines and lowers her already plunging necklines.

As she mourns the fact that full-pieces have made a return to our shorelines (as she assures Savvy Style, do men the world over), she launches a full-scale assault on all that is conservative and modest with Jaltali Gets Wet – a line of the itsiest, teeniest bikinis with Brazilian cuts for your viewing pleasure.

With style names like Zsa Zsa, Tallula, and Varushka; Talisa, Invanka, and Natalia, and cuts that are barely there, baring almost-all, Jatali Gets Wet has fast become a Savvy Style staple.

Something of a Bondi institution, Jatali has been gracing Sydney’s social pages and bringing peace, happiness and a hell of an attitude to the broader Bondi community for the past seven years. Known as “mumma” by many of her regulars, of which she has many, it’s not unusual to drop by the store and find Jatali herself manning (or, as she laughs, “womaning”) the change rooms.

This flamboyant fashionista encourages girls not to heed their mother’s advice, but instead to try new cuts, new prints, and to love whatever skin (and silks) they are in.

“Get over it,” she says, then screams, “Life is too short! Have a drink, smoke a cigarette; we won’t tell your mum. Wear a Brazilian–cut, wear short dresses, wear a fabulous bikini, and have a fabulous life!”

It seems that they are indeed listening. The riskiest prints in her collection proved to be sell-outs. Jatali’s fabric, designed in Australia and imported from Italy, is unsurpassed, and her lining makes this a collection that will last for years to come, a rarity in this day and age of disposable, five-minute fashion.
