Kenny was the heart of Sandaway’s hospitality — famous for his late‑night kindness, his “can‑do” spirit, and his willingness to help any guest in need \(including those who occasionally locked themselves out\)\. To honor his memory and ensure a seamless stay, every room now includes an extra “Mr\. G Key\.” His legacy lives on through his music and through 55 years of Chesapeake Bay getaways\. Summer 2025 brought new horizons and national recognition\. To welcome the boating community and honor our founder, we installed a dedicated mooring off Sandaway Beach\. Named KGH‑BB62, it stands as a tribute to Kenny’s life of hospitality and his service aboard the Battleship New Jersey during the Vietnam War\. That same summer, Sandaway was honored with both the Marinas\.com Boater’s Choice Award and the TripAdvisor Travelers’ Choice Award, reflecting our continued commitment to excellence\. We also expanded our amenities with the launch of Coffee by Seven™ and a new Grab & Go Continental Breakfast\. In November 2025, Sandaway proudly entered its third generation\. Ben and Santy Gibson announced that Sandaway will continue as a family‑run retreat, with Wendy passing the torch to the next chapter\. Ben and Santy remain committed to upholding the high standards of care that have made Sandaway a place of renewal for decades\.
