Serene Mountain Cabin Nestled in the Heart of the Northern Catskills Welcome to Dry Brook Cabin, our family’s treasured retreat for fifty years\! Located in the heart of the Northern Catskills \(2 ½ hours from NYC\) off Route 28, Dry Brook Cabin is situated on 14 acres of private, wooded land with majestic mountain views\. Year\-round activities abound \- skiing, hiking, shopping, day spas, cultural attractions, tubing, and more\. If cooking is your thing, we have a bountiful supermarket just minutes away in Margaretville and a lavish farmers’ market at the Round Barn on Route 30\. There are also plenty of high\-quality restaurants nearby\. This 4 bed / 2 bath log cabin comfortably sleeps 8, has an open layout, and plenty of natural light\. Outdoor porches and Adirondack seating allow you to take in the peace, quiet, and warmth of the mountains while enjoying morning coffee, happy hour, or a home\-cooked meal\. There is also an outdoor fire pit, perfect for enjoying s’mores and stargazing\. We look forward to having you\! The guest has access to the entire property\. I am available for any questions before your stay or questions and emergencies during your stay\. 13 minutes to Belleayre Mountain Ski Center 13 minutes to Belleayre Beach 23 minutes to Plattekill Ski Center 4 minutes to the local hospital\. 5 minutes to the local grocery store and pharmacy Groups need to be 25 and older per owners discretion Firewood is not provided\. Guests can purchase bundles at the local gas stations or along the trip here\. Please remember you are in the woods and surrounded by nature even though you are only a short drive from town\. Being in the woods means you may encounter some wildlife and bugs\. Some of the wildlife would prefer to be in our cozy home like mice\. Please understand this is a very normal part of living in the catskill mountains and we do everything we can to not have them in our homes\. Some guests want traps out some don’t\. If I do leave a trap its usually hidden and isn’t found unless you are really searching the home\. If you don’t see a trap, it doesn’t mean we are not doing anything\. Bugs are a huge part of being in nature\. Bug spray is recommended from spring through fall and if hiking the ticks are year\-round\. Be mindful to check for ticks after spending time outside any time of year as our area has many\. If you have a pet be sure to treat them with a preventative before coming here\. Our weather has been very temperamental I guess you could say for the last several years\. Ice, snow, rain, mud etc is part of being here and I can’t help what the weather does\. I do my best to ensure things are ice free to enter the home in the winter months but rock salt doesn’t always work in really cold temperatures\. Sometimes the sun will hit the area salt was put down and melt the ice but its so cold out it refreezes\. Some things are just out of my control but know I do my very best and being local I am dealing with the same issues at my home\. The home is on a plowing contract and will be plowed after 3\-5” but if its accumulating fast there could be more by the time they get to the house\. I have no say over when the plowing company arrives\. Know he has to wait for roads to be plowed too to be able to get to his plow jobs\. If you know a storm is coming please make sure to park vehicles close together and leave room for them to plow\. As with most homes up here an AWD vehicle is recommended when coming\. If the driveway doesn’t feel safe to you always park at the bottom and walk up\.
