Panguitch is nestled between the Markagunt and Paunsaugunt Plateaus and is known for its breathtaking scenery and outdoor recreation\. The name Panguitch comes from a Paiute word meaning “Big Fish,” a nod to nearby Panguitch Lake, famous for its excellent fishing and large rainbow trout\.
Throughout the year, Panguitch hosts vibrant community events including the Annual Quilt Walk Festival in the spring, the Panguitch Valley Balloon Rally in summer, and rodeos, concerts, and competitions at the Canyon Country Complex and Triple C Arena just off Highway 89\. July 24th brings one of the town’s biggest celebrations with parades, reunions, and rodeo events\.
Winter brings its own charm with New Year’s festivities at the Triple C Arena and the Panguitch Lake Big Fish Ice Fishing Derby\. History lovers can also visit the historic cemetery east of town, featuring headstones dating back to the 1870s\.
