Our cabin is a modern 2,400 square foot, eco\-friendly log home, with 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, and ample living spaces, perfect for a large family retreat or intimate getaway\. With plenty of space for entertaining and gathering together both inside and outside: open concept and fully equipped kitchen, spacious living room, big picture windows looking out to the forest, three expansive decks with Adirondack chairs, two fireplaces for cold mountain nights, three comfy bedrooms with high thread count sheets, two bathrooms \(one with a shower/tub combo and the other is a walk\-in shower\), plenty of plush towels, an additional loft space with futon, totaling 2,400 square feet of house\! All surrounded by 10 acres of woods, which means no neighbors or busy roads in sight\. The house has numerous nooks which provide privacy for larger parties and for hiding away with a good book and a glass of wine\.  Soaring floor\-to\-ceiling windows and french doors lead to front and back decks perfect for lounging and dining\.  Take in morning views over a cup of coffee \(provided\) and watch the sunrise over the distant mountains\. Then, gather around the large dining table, after having cooked breakfast in our open concept kitchen, where you can watch the many species of birds on the property living in over 50 birdhouses\. After breakfast, make the day your own \- explore the local towns of Margaretville, Phoenicia or Andes, go antiquing, or take the family on the one\-mile hike to the John Burroughs Memorial and his boyhood home \(famous American poet and naturalist\)\. In the evening, enjoy a fire in our designer floor\-to\-ceiling fireplace in the Grand Room, gather around the fire pit in the front yard, or stretch out on the back deck and take in the night sky\. With zero neighbors in sight, it's just you and the stars\. We also provide several board games, a 50 inch Samsung Smart TV with Hulu, Netflix, Disney\+, ESPN\+, and a Record Player with Bluetooth Speakers for guests to enjoy\. The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you need to cook/bake, including electric cooktop, oven, full\-size fridge and freezer, dishwasher, microwave, toaster, hand mixer, slow cooker/pressure cooker, can opener, wine opener, barware including wine glasses and cocktail shaker, plenty of sharp/steak knives, drip coffee maker, a french press, Nespresso \(coffee provided\), electric tea kettle \(tea provided\), assorted pots, pans, bakeware, mixing bowls, dinnerware, flatware, and serving ware\. We also have large service platters and bowls for holidays/family style, a turkey roasting pan, BBQ tools and accessories\. There are some basic items provided, such as salt and pepper, coffee, and tea\. The house is set up for guests, so you are welcome to use anything you find in the refrigerator, freezer, and cabinets \(i\.e\. condiments, seasonings, etc\.\)\. For our guests' convenience, we have Nests and Hue Smart Lights throughout the home\. Kindly let us know your arrival time, and we will turn on the lights and turn up the heat \(if it's cold\), so you arrive to a warm, cozy, well\-lit house\. Outsiders Cafe Quaint Hiking themed Cafe about 7 minutes away\. Gluten Free options\. On the way to Margaretville\. Zephyr Farm to table fare \- a bit pricey but well worth it\. Brunch on Sundays is amazing\. Phoenicia Diner Popular Diner food and hip scene on Highway 28 just outside Phoenicia\. About 30 minutes away\. The epitome of the Hickster movement\. Sweet Sue's Pancakes in dozens of varieties headline the menu at this cozy American breakfast & lunch café\. Our favorite spot to indulge\. About 20 minutes away in Phoenicia\. Peekamoose Restaurant NYC dining in the Catskills\. Great for special occasions\. Very delicious and only about 15 minutes away\. Reservations are highly recommended although we usually prefer to sit at the bar\. Lazy Crazy Acres This farm and CSA hosts outdoor pizza nights on Saturdays in summer and fall\. Also hayrides and special events around Halloween\. Union Grove Distillery in Arkville Featuring cocktails with their award winning Vly Creek Vodka\. Bartenders are locals and very friendly\. Great fireplace\. Free tours and tastings\. Cassie’s Cafe/ Chappie's at Night Local home\-cooked diner\. Great spot to nurse a hangover\. At night the cafe transforms into a more elegant dining experience called Chappie's\. Serving dinner until 9pm and only a 4 minute driveway\! Wayside Cider \(Andes, NY \- about 15 minute drive\) The Tap Room at Wayside Cider is a meeting place, focused on regional beverage, food, friends, and good conversation\. In addition to a full range of their ciders \(including some fun stuff you can't get elsewhere\), they have a range of exciting beers, wines, and spirits from New York state\. OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES NEARBY: Belleayre Mountain Skiing, outdoor activities, lake beach, and a music festival every weekend during the summer\. Plattekill Mountain Skiing, outdoor activities, top trails in NY state, and special events\. Also known for it's bike trails and races\. 8 miles from the Secret Catskills Cabin\. Catskill Scenic Trail, a 26 mile rail trail connecting Roxbury and Bloomville open year round for hiking, biking, and horse back riding\. Catskill Mountain Club Hiking \(check out information on their website\) John Burroughs Memorial, just one mile up the road\. Walk down Fairway Drive to John Burroughs Memorial Rd and make a left\. About ¾ mile you will come to his boyhood home, which is open for tours the first weekend of every month May \- Oct\. Continue on another ¼ to his memorial site for spectacular views of the Vega Mountain Valley\. A great spot to picnic\. Adler Lake A lovely drive away, with a 1\.5 mike flat hiking loop around it\. Swimming\. Big Pond and Little Pond are nearby too\. Park in Halcottsville \(down below, off of Route 30\) Walk or jog around the the lake\. The loop is almost three miles, and is especially nice in the early morning when the mist rises and the herons and ducks wake up\. The full loop takes you \.5 mile along Route 30, so watch for traffic\. Susan's Pleasant Pheasant Farm in Halcottsville Rents kayaks, and they have a secret swimming hole that they will let you use after your rental\. The Area Reservoirs Now available for canoeing and kayaking, and several companies in the area offer rentals\. Paddle in the water that will eventually flow through NYC taps\. Two local Golf Courses: Sheppard Hills in Roxbury and the Hannah Golf and Country Club on Route 30\. Sheppard Hills is about 4 minutes away\. Ulster & Delaware County Scenic Railroad Tours, Arkville Tour the beautiful Catskills in Art Deco, stainless steel vintage trains\. Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays\. The nearby town of Andes is a gorgeous 25 minute windy drive away, and is full of art galleries and shops\. Stop by the Andes Hotel for a meal or a cocktail, and on summer Friday nights, 'Cans and Clams' are cheap out back around the bonfire, usually with live music\. We kindly ask guests to not park or drive on the yard\. The house is situated on 10 private acres in the middle of the forest\. We recommend that you have your own car \(AWD in the winter\) to get around\. There is a public transit bus \(Trailways\) that runs from NYC to Arkville \(and stops at several other towns in the area\), but you will need a car to get to the house from there\. The house is in the heart of the mountains and tucked away in the forest \(yay\!\) so gps does not always find our exact location \(hence the name 'secret catskill cabin'\), so we will provide directions from the main road to our house once your booking is complete\. HOUSE RULES \(must read before booking\) This is a special house, please be gentle with it\. Most things here are special to us, including some vintage and antique pieces\. We want to share our home with others, so they can feel the peace and comfort we feel when staying here\. Please don't ruin that for others or us\. We do not wear shoes in the house and ask you to do the same\. :\) Please do not park or drive on the lawn\. Do not cut down or damage trees, branches, or greenery on the property\. There is no hunting, trapping, or use of guns allowed on our property\. Wifi is available at the house and we recommend guests enable wifi calling on their cell to make calls\. Cell phone signal can be spotty in the area\. Check\-in time is at 3pm and check\-out time is at 11am\. We ask our guests to respect those times in order for our cleaning staff to do their job well and prepare the house for the next guest\. A hypoallergenic \(non\-shedding\) dog lives in the house when guests are not present\. Well\-behaved, house\-broken dogs are welcome with prior approval and an additional pet fee\. Please inquire for more information\. DAMAGE/RESERVATION DEPOSIT: Your deposit is fully refundable after your departure, provided: 1\. No damage is done to the house, the contents, or property grounds \(outside of normal wear and tear\)\. 2\. The house is returned in the same condition as found upon arrival \(including no stains on sheets or towels, and no items are missing\)\. 3\.
