The idea to run a B&B first popped into my head early in 2015 while my son and I were picking up sticks prior to mowing. We lived behind an old brick plantation house that was built in the early 1800s. It had been used for a wedding and event venue, called the Magnolia Manor, but the current owners had just put it up for sale. My son remarked on that, and I responded with, “Maybe your mom and I should buy it and run it as a B&B!” While we had stayed at B&Bs often, both in the US, Canada, and in Europe, I had never given conscious thought to becoming an innkeeper, but it seems my subconscious had been!
